We also believe strongly in client centric information control and as such, we leave the choice of what information you would like to share with us up to you. However, we make no legally binding statements as to what we may or may not do with any data that you do share, either now or in the future. In addition we reserve the right to change this policy at any time by updating this posting. With this in mind, you should make yourself aware of the information you share with us when you interact with our site and take appropriate steps to regulate that information as you see fit.
Registering your device with the Chattr service involves collecting network identification information such as your mobile number and network data. This is used to identify and route messages to and from your device through the Chattr service. This information is retained in secure, private storage and not shared with 3rd parties.
Messages sent through Chattr are not retained. However, messages sent to recipients that are not able to be immediately delivered may be stored in secure, private storage for up to 48hrs to allow the recipient time to retrieve them. In addition, periodic backups of all data collected by Chattr may be taken and retained in secure, private storage for a period necessary to ensure data integrity.
No other data is collected by messaging apps using the Chattr.
You may have noticed that our privacy policy looks a little bit different. Most sites will give you three pages of dense legalese to tell you exactly what we've told you above. We think that is wrong. We believe that a privacy policy should tell you quickly and clearly what a site will do with your information and they all say the same thing, they'll do what they want. Don't believe us? Take a look at CNN's policy. We decided to make that clear by keeping it short and to the point, rather than unclear by drowning you in details. We hope you understand that we aren't planning to do anything special with your information, but just make clear that every site uses this policy and the choice of what to submit is up to you.
